Personal Training & Sport Specific Conditioning 

 

Whether you are a novice exerciser looking to improve your fitness, an individual recovering from an injury/illness or a seasoned athlete who wants to improve their performance, working with a personal trainer will allow you focus, fine tune and physically flourish.  With over 13 years experience as a personal trainer, coach and educator Matt Imhof, M.Ed., C.P.T., can design and implement a program specifically for you.

Assisted Stretching & Flexibility Programs      

 

Flexibility is one of the most important aspects of any fitness program.  Good flexibility can improve performance, enhance comfort during daily activities and helps to prevent injury.  However, stretching is often the last thing done or the first thing skipped when exercising.  Let the experts at Santosha Yoga Center set you up on a flexibility path to success.

Assisted stretching is a cross between massage and personal training.  Matthew Imhof, C.P.T. and co-owner of Santosha Yoga Center, will instruct you on proper stretching form and manually assist you utilizing a variety of stretching techniques designed to help you reach your potential.    

Types of Assisted Stretching

  • Isometric Stretching - Isometric stretching is a type of static stretching (meaning it does not use motion) which involves the resistance of muscle groups through isometric contractions (tensing) of the stretched muscles. The use of isometric stretching is one of the fastest ways to develop increased static-passive flexibility
  • Passive Stretching - Passive stretching is also referred to as relaxed stretching, and as static-passive stretching. A passive stretch is one where you assume a position and hold it with some other part of your body, or with the assistance of a partner or some other apparatus.
  • PNF Stretching - PNF is an acronym for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. It is not really a type of stretching but is a technique of combining passive stretching and isometric stretching in order to achieve maximum static flexibility.

A typical stretching session will utilize a variety of techniques to help you reach your goals.  Sessions might take place on the floor or often times will take place on a massage table to allow for better client comfort and hands on assistance of the instructor.

Assisted stretching is often utilized by athletes to improve performance and physical therapists to assist patients recovering from injuries.  Studies have shown that clients who utilize the assistance of a flexibility expert show significant improvement over those who choose to stretch themselves.

Running Programs

Are you tired of the same old cookie cutter running programs and wish that you had a program that was designed specifically for you?  Do you want a coach who listens to your goals, looks at your past running history and uses that information to assess your abilities and set realistic goals that are achievable?  As a former NCAA track and cross country head coach, Matthew Imhof, M.Ed, C.P.T., will develop a program that will put your running on track for success.  

Whether you are an experienced runner looking to reach the next level of performance, or a beginning runner who wants to train for their first race, Matt can design a program to meet your personal needs.

Ideal for runners with an established base who are looking to run a half or full marathon or for the novice who is looking to build up and race

For the runner who wants to set and implement an entire season of running and racing from base building through peaking with scheduled recoveries built in along the way.  The Complete Season!

Personal Coaching

THE TOTAL PACKAGE!  Fully customized and periodized program with detailed daily workouts designed to progress the client from first contact to goal achievement.  Includes unlimited phone and/or email contact, workout monitoring and updating, as well as other helpful training tools and tricks to keep you healthy and motivated!

Registration Information

All new clients must complete a comprehensive health intake form and meet with Matthew prior to beginning any program.  This process is designed to allow you, the client, to get to know Matthew, ask him questions and discuss your personal reasons for training.  It also allows Matthew the opportunity to ask you some questions about your health and fitness and determine what type of program might best fit your needs.  Upon completing the intake forms and having your consultation with Matthew, you will be able to make an informed and mutually agreed upon decision about beginning a comprehensive training program designed specifically for you.
