2nd Annual Memorial Week Troop
Benefit & Auction
A Wonderful Success |
 |
The Second Annual Memorial Week Troop Benefit was held May 19th-24th, 2008 at
Santosha Yoga Center and proved to be an overwhelming success. This years event
raised over $2100 for the Yellow Ribbon Girls and collected twice as many care
package items as 2007. Thanks goes out to everyone who participated. Without
your generous donations of time and money, this event would not happen so thank
you.
This years event was made extra special by visits from several military personnel.
First, Army Sgt. Edward Greiner, son of Santosha teacher Maggi Lang, and Air
National Guard Sgt. Matthew Bizup spent the day at Santosha having just recently
returned from recent deployments in Iraq. Both men spent the morning meeting
with Santosha students and telling stories about what it is like serving so far
away from home. It was a pleasure to meet Sgt. Greiner and Sgt. Bizup and we
were all thankful for their sacrifice and service to our country.
Finally, Kirk L. Fellabom, Chairman of the 82nd Airborne Division Association,
1SG Leonard A. Funk Chapter attended and brought an unexpected surprise. Mr.
Fellabom presented the Yellow Ribbon Girls with a check for $650 and a proclamation
praising their hard work and dedication to our men and women serving in uniform
throughout the world.
Attached you will find a copy of the troop benefit program which is being sent
this June in care packages to our military personnel overseas so they can see
the generosity you displayed as well.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
